Ashley Lattal has extensive experience conducting workplace investigations in a wide variety of industries. Her experience includes investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment, bullying, sexual harassment, violence, conflicts of interest, and other policy violations.
Ashley also regularly acts a mediator on litigation matters, including employment, human rights, insurance and contractual disputes. She also conducts workplace mediations to assist organizations in managing and improving employee relationships.

Ashley is a roster mediator for the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program and has acted as mediator on a wide variety of litigation matters, including employment, human rights, insurance, and contractual disputes. In addition, Ashley regularly acts as a mediator of workplace conflict to assist organizations in managing and improving employee relationships.
Lattal Law assists employers in restoring workplaces following a disruptive event or to resolve underlying conflict uncovered by a workplace investigation.
In addition, Ashley provides one-on-one conflict coaching and education for employees who require individualized assistance.

Experienced as a lawyer in both the United States and Canada, Ms. Lattal has considerable experience in managing workplace investigations and litigation involving multiple parties and witnesses and significant legal and evidentiary issues.
She has conducted hundreds of investigations into complaints of sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination, workplace violence, conflicts of interest, hostile work environments, and other policy breaches. Ashley produces clear, fair investigation reports based on sound evidence that are useful in the event of litigation or arbitration.
Ashley began her career as a commercial litigator and has significant experience litigating and mediating a wide variety of disputes, including employment, human rights, insurance, shareholder, environmental, and contractual matters. She is a roster mediator with the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program.
Ashley regularly provides workplace mediation and restoration services, as well as workplace culture assessments.
After graduating from Cornell Law School in 2000, Ashley was called to the bars of New York, Washington, D.C., and Ontario. She worked at a national law firm in Washington, D.C., a national law firm in Toronto and subsequently a litigation boutique in Toronto.

Significant changes to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act come into effect on September 8, 2016 regarding workplace sexual harassment and workplace investigations. The following is a checklist aimed at assisting employers in implementing the requisite changes pursuant to Bill 132.
On October 27, 2015, the Ontario government introduced Bill 132 (the Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan Act (Supporting Survivors and Challenging Sexual Violence and Harassment), 2015. If passed, it will amend a variety of legislation in relation to sexual violence, sexual harassment, domestic violence, and related matters.
A recent B.C. case, Lau v. Royal Bank of Canada, 2015 BCSC 1639, confirms that courts will carefully scrutinize the sufficiency of employers’ investigation, particularly where it is relied upon to terminate an employee for cause
